If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it’s probably a duck.
“We don’t do Vacation Bible School. However, every summer we offer Adventure Week at the church–filled with fun activities, crafts and Bible lessons for kids.”
“We don’t do Sunday School. Instead, we offer life groups that meet on Sunday mornings in classrooms with a teacher who delivers the lesson.”
“Our kids don’t trick-or-treat. As a safe alternative, they get all dressed up in costumes, come with their families to the church parking lot to walk car to car and get candy from other church members.”
“We’re not overstaffed, we’re staffed for growth. The growth part just hasn’t happened in a while.”
“We don’t have traditional worship. Instead, we have 30 minutes of modern worship using the same two-dozen worship songs and then a 45-minute message…and we do that every week.”
It doesn’t matter what we name the duck. It’s still a duck. If we do the same thing we’ve always done, we will get the same results we’ve always gotten.
